These walks, for which VABC is responsible, require online registration- there is no walk box. The registration process requires some preplanning and applies to these walks only.

START POINT: Mill Lake Parking Lot, 32995 Bevan Ave, V2S 6P9
Route starts at Mill Lake Parking lot, passes historic Trethewey House, goes around Mill Lake and through other parks. It passes the oldest Sikh Temple in Canada (1911) and through the old town of Abbotsford.

Campbell River Elk Falls PT266
START POINT: Elk Falls Provincial Park, Brewster Lake Road, off Highway 28, 4 km west of Highway 19, Campbell River.
Walk on trails to view the falls and continue around the Old Growth Loop Trail.10 km continue on to Canyon View trail along both sides of the canyon.

Walk goes through the town of Duncan, passing a number of totem poles for which Duncan is famous and along trails beside Somenos Marsh & in Centennial Park. On Saturdays, when the weather is good, it passes by a very popular farmers’ market.

Duncan Mount Tzouhalem PT263

START POINT: Emerald Lake Parking Lot
The 5 km route walks all around Emerald Lake. The 11 km route also goes up the mountainside into the Emerald Basin. Washrooms available at the start/finish.

START POINT: Hwy 95S and 5 St N.
NOTE: Golden is on Mountain (not Pacific) Time. Both routes cross the Kicking Horse Pedestrian Bridge to follow the Kicking Horse River & the Rotary Trails, through a short residential section to the downtown of Golden.

Kimberley PT105

This scenic walk follows a wooded trail overlooking Mark Creek and the St. Mary’s River Valley to arrive in Marysville: an early miner’s community. The walk returns along the banks of Mark Creek back to the start point. Along the way are excellent views & peaceful rest stops. Watch for small trout in the tributaries leading into Mark Creek.

Walk goes through some residential areas & downtown Lake Cowichan, plus some stretches of the Great Trail including two old trestle bridges. Walk showcases the lake, the river and the town. Washrooms available at start/finish and in Central Park

Car is not required on Mayne Island. Contact BC Ferries at www.bcferries.com for schedules. The route goes along winding and hilly country roads to Georgina Point Heritage Park and Lighthouse, with its views of Active Pass & Galiano Island, with an optional 3 km that includes a Japanese garden. Washrooms available at ferry terminal, Miners Bay, Georgina Point Park and outside Japanese garden.

START POINT: Berg Lake Trailhead, Mt Robson Provincial Park.
Both 5 km & 10 km routes are on trails with good views of Mt. Robson & along the Robson River. 10 km route goes to Kinney Lake. Dogs are allowed on a leash to Kinney Lake. Pender Island – Otter Bay PT294
START POINT: Otter Bay Ferry Terminal, 1371 MacKinnon Rd, Pender Island, BC V0N 2M1
This walk takes you to Port Washington where the first Government Wharf was built in 1891. Those doing the 11K will continue through beautiful, forested roads to Hope Bay and return through more quiet roads.
Note: you do not need a car on the island to do this walk, so you may travel on the ferry as a foot passenger.

Pender Island – Poets Cove PT295

This walk takes you along quiet, rural roads, trails and parks on South Pender Island. Some short side trails provide breathtaking scenic views and the chance to see wildlife.
Note: you will need a car on the island to do this walk. The walk start point is a 16 km drive from the ferry terminal.

The walk follows the Heritage River Trail through parks along the Fraser and Nechako Rivers with some residential walking.

The route is an out and back route in both directions on the Kettle Valley Railway Trail/ Great Trail (Trans-Canada Trail). The 5 km route goes to the Tulameen river and returns. The 10 km route then heads east on the trail before returning.

About 2 km of this walk are in Lighthouse Park, including a viewpoint overlooking Point Atkinson Lighthouse. The rest of the route is on winding, hilly roads & paths through a wealthy residential neighbourhood with some great views of Burrard Inlet. Park may be closed during times of extreme fire hazard.
