  Calendar of Events 

Following is a list of scheduled events in all of 2019 which are organized by the BC clubs. In addition, most clubs also have group walks of their Permanent Trails at least once a year at weekends and often have mid-week group PT walks. To find out more about such walks, please contact the club. 

Registration for Scheduled Events commences 1/2 hour before the stated time unless indicated otherwise.

Notice to ALL walkers doing CVF walks in ANY part of Canada


The Canadian Volkssport Federation will not accept liability for medical expenses due to accident while doing any of our sponsored walks. The CVF HIGHLY recommends that Canadians and non-Canadians have proper and adequate medical insurance when they do a walk out of their home province, or arrive from another country.

INFORMATION: This walk encompasses three significant parks & quiet residential streets with great views. It begins & finishes with the 5k Summit Park route. The 10k route continues from Summit Park to Peacock Park & Playfair Park before passing a second time through Summit Park via a different path.

INFORMATION: Explore Boundary Bay Regional Pk with its dune plants, bird life, & views of ocean & mountains. Also walk through residential areas of Boundary Bay & Beach Grove which used to be full of small cottages. Check out the “Secret Garden.”

DIRECTIONS TO START: Take Highway 19 (Nanaimo Parkway) to Jinglepot Rd. Going North, turn RIGHT on Jinglepot; going South, turn LEFT on Jinglepot. Where Jinglepot veers left, Keep RIGHT on Third St. Entrance is on your right, just past gravel parking lot for Serauxmen Stadium & before the light at Wakesiah Ave. Parking is available in front & on either side of the Aquatic Centre. Parking is also available across the street at the Nanaimo Ice Centre.
INFORMATION: Bastion City Wanderers invites you to join them for a 6, 10 or 12k walk before the VABC meeting. The 6k walk goes around Buttertubs Marsh & follows the Trans Canada/Parkway Trail & local streets. The 10 & 12k walks continue on through Colliery Dam Park & Vancouver Island University. The 12k walk also goes around Yew Loop Trail in Morrell Sanctuary. The walks are mostly on paved streets/paths & on well-groomed dirt trails. For those attending the AGM only, lunch & the AGM will follow at the Nanaimo Aquatic Centre.

INFORMATION: Walk along the trails of Centennial Pk in Saanich, through residential Brentwood Bay, country roads & farms. Enjoy some blackberries along the way before you finish the walk on different trails in Centennial Pk. The walk is followed by a pot luck picnic lunch. Coffee & cookies will be supplied.

DIRECTIONS TO START: From Trans Canada Hwy #1 take exit #170 to Hope; Right on Old Hope Princeton Hwy; Left on 6 Ave; Right on Kawkawa Lake Rd; Right on Othello Rd; Right to stay on Othello Rd; Right Tunnels Rd; Left toward Tunnels Rd; Left on Tunnels Rd.  OR:  Take Exit #183 Othello Rd from the Coquihalla Hwy. The turnoff is located about 6k east of the junction to the Crowsnest Hwy (Hwy #3) along Coquihalla Hwy #5; Once you have turned off the highway, the road follows underneath the highway & continues along Othello Rd westbound, back towards Hope.  Follow this road for about 3k & watch for signs to Coquihalla Provincial Pk that point to the left onto Tunnel Rd.
INFORMATION: A scenic walk along the Old Kettle Valley Railway to the Quintette Tunnels (5) built through a granite mountain in the early 1900's. You will have a close up view of the rushing river.

Take bus #236 (Grouse Mountain), get off at Montroyal Blvd & walk uphill for 2 blocks.
INFORMATION: Explore the Capilano River canyon with its lush forests, marvel at migrating salmon & take in spectacular views of Capilano Lake & the Lions (from park brochure). Also check out the action at the Capilano Salmon Hatchery and in the rushing river.
