  Calendar of Events 

Following is a list of scheduled events in all of 2018 which are organized by the BC clubs. In addition, most clubs also have group walks of their Permanent Trails at least once a year at weekends and often have mid-week group PT walks. To find out more about such walks, please contact the club. 

Registration for Scheduled Events commences 1/2 hour before the stated time unless indicated otherwise.

Notice to ALL walkers doing CVF walks in ANY part of Canada


The Canadian Volkssport Federation will not accept liability for medical expenses due to accident while doing any of our sponsored walks. The CVF HIGHLY recommends that Canadians and non-Canadians have proper and adequate medical insurance when they do a walk out of their home province, or arrive from another country.

INFORMATION: Tillicum Walk 10 km goes through Banfield Park, Selkirk Trestle, Trans Canada Trail & Pavilion. It returns on the trails in Cuthbert Holmes Park. 5 k goes through Gorge Waterfront Park, residential areas & trails in Cuthbert Holmes Park.

DIRECTIONS TO START: Take Highway 1 to the Cassidy Airport. Going South, pass the entrance to the airport & turn Right at the next light onto Timberlands Rd. Going North, turn Left onto Timberlands Rd. Pass the Timberlands Pub then go Left at the Rondalyn Resort sign onto Ninatti Rd. Continue just past the Vancouver Island University Heavy Duty Equipment Operator’s Training area. Where the road splits in three, take the Left road & follow this road as it curves Right & Right again & ends in a T-junction with the middle road. Park either to the left or just to the right of this junction opposite the Great Trail (Trans Canada) & Haslam Trail signs. (The middle gravel road is a more direct route to the trail start but is often in poor condition.)
INFORMATION: Both the 8 & 11 km routes follow the Great Trail (Trans Canada)/Haslam Trails across the Haslam Creek suspension bridge & up gravel roads to Timberland Lake & back. The 11 km includes a further loop with views of Crystal Lake & the Haslam Creek valley.

Follow Millstream Road through the Highlands neighbourhood for about 6km. Turn left onto Caleb Pike Road at signs to Gowlland Tod Provincial Park. Drive to the parking lot at the end of the road.
INFORMATION:  All distance options follow the Ridge trail up from the parking lot, through a mix of woodland and rougher ground. It has several ups and downs, with beautiful water views of Finlayson Arm at several points. A 2 km option continues up a steeper section to the summit of Jocelyn Hill. An additional 2 km option is on lower trails. Walkers should bring water and a snack to hydrate and enjoy the views before returning down the hill. Hiking poles advised for those who use them.
